한반도 위기 - 반전(反戰)과 반전(反轉)을 위한 상상

"핵을 머리에 이고 살 수는 없다"는 말에 전적으로 동감합니다. 

그러나, 이미 머리 위에 핵을 이고 있고, 또 그럴 수밖에 없는 상대를 향해 해야 할 말인지는 좀 더 생각해 볼 필요가 있을 것 같습니다. 

중국 칭화대 초빙교수이자 <The 4th Media>의 편집장이신 정기열씨는 최근 한 인터뷰에서 중국이 1960년대 중반에 처했던 상황에 대해 언급하고 있습니다. 요지는 다음과 같습니다.

당시 '핵문제'를 놓고 중국은 미국, 영국 등의 서방 세계와 심각한 갈등을 빚고 있었습니다. 소련까지 등을 돌렸던 상황에서, 심지어 미국의 핵 폭격 위협까지 있었던 위기 상황에서 중국은 핵무기 개발을 강행하였고, 결국은 독자적인 '핵보유국'의 지위에 오르게 됩니다. 이를 통해 중국은 이전까지 서방에 의해 일방적으로 무시되어 왔던 '관계 정상화'를 추진할 수 있게 되었을 뿐만 아니라, 향후 개혁 개방 정책을 성공적으로 추진할 수 있었던 밑거름을 다질 수 있었습니다.

비록 그 의도와 실체에 대해 단정지을 수 있는 처지에 있지는 못하지만, 북한이 머리에 이고 있는 핵도 우리가 우려하는 '재앙의 씨앗'이 아니라, 중국의 '핵'이 그러했던 것처럼, 모두가 염원하는 '긍정적인 결과를 추동해 낼 수 있는 씨앗'으로 바라볼 수는 없는 것인지? 그리고 그에 어울리는 묘수를 고안하는 쪽으로 발상의 전환을 꾀할 수는 없는 것인지? 묻지 않을 수 없습니다.

'북핵'과 그로 인한 '한반도 위기'를 바라보고 이해하는 지배적인 '인식의 틀'은 '(북한의) 도발 - 재제 - 타협 - 보상' 입니다. 그 대표적인 예는 다음과 같습니다.

"그동안은 북한이 도발로 위기를 조성하면, 일정기간 재제를 하다가 적당히 타협해서 보상을 해주는 잘못된 관행이 반복되어 왔습니다. 그러는 사이에 북한의 핵개발 능력은 더욱 고도화되고, 불확실성이 계속되어 왔습니다. 이제 그런 악순환의 고리를 끊어야 합니다." (박근혜 대통령, 2013년 5월 8일 미의회 상하원 합동연설문 중)

그러나, 그간 있었던 일련의 사건들을 차분하게 되짚어 보면 (아래 연표 참조), 위의 인식틀과는 상이한 해석도 가능함을 알 수 있습니다. 즉, 한반도 위기 조성의 실질적 주체(와 원인 제공자)로 북한만을 지목하기에는 이를 뒷받침 해줄 수 있는 사실관계가 충분치 못하며, 오히려 그에 반하는 '사실관계'들이 발견된다는 것입니다. 

• 그 첫번째는, 2002년 10월 미 국무부 차관보 제임스 켈리의 방북을 전후로 쟁점화된  '고농축 우라늄(HEU)' 문제입니다.  이 문제로 인해 1994년에 맺어졌던 역사적인 '북미간의 제네바 합의'는 결국 파탄을 맞게됩니다. 미국은 중유 지원 및  경수로 건설을 중단하였고, 이에 대해 북한은 IAEA 사찰단 추방, 핵활동 재개 및 NPT 탈퇴라는 '도발'로 대응을 합니다.
• 두번째는, 2005년 9월 20일, 제5차 6자 회담의 성과물인 '9.19 공동 성명' 발표 다음날에 미국 재무부가 마카오에 있는 BDA 은행의 북한 계좌를 동결시킨 사건입니다.  이로 인해 '9.19 공동성명'은 하루만에 휴지조각이 되버렸고, 북한은 이듬해인 2006년에 대포동 2호 미사일 발사 (7월 5일)와 1차 핵실험 (10월 9일) 이라는 '도발'을 하게됩니다. '9.19 공동성명'은 고농축 우라늄 문제로 붉어진 소위 '제2차 핵위기'를 타개하기 위해 2003년 8월 중국의 중재로 마련된 6자 회담이 2년 간의 진통 끝에 어렵게 도달한 합의였습니다.
• 세번째는, 북한의 1차 핵실험 이후 재개된 6자 회담의 결과물인  '2.13 합의'가 또 다시 파국을 맞게된 경위입니다. 2007년 2월 13일에 성사된 '2.13 합의'로 '9.19 공동 성명'의 이행을 재추진하게 되면서 사태는 순풍을 타는 듯 했으나, 미국이 핵불능화 검증의 범위를 애초 합의된 사안을 넘어 확대하려고 시도하면서 2008년 말에 다시 교착상태로 접어들게 됩니다. 
• 네번째는, 2009년 1월 오바마 행정부 1기가 출범하면서 당시 국무부 장관이었던 힐러리 클린턴이 '9.19 공동 성명' 이행과 평화협정을 우선적으로 논의하겠다며 전향적으로 나왔으나 (소위 '힐러리 프로세스'), 이번에는 한국의 이명박 정부가 '비핵개방 3000 정책'을 들고 반대를 하게됩니다. 이에 북한은 2009년 4월에 위성을 발사하고, 다음 달 5월에 제2차 핵실험으로 '도발'을 하게됩니다. 미국은 '힐러리 프로세스'를  이후 몇차례 더 시도했지만 이명박 정부의 반대를 핑계로 소위 '전략적 인내' 모드로 들어갑니다.
• 다섯번째는, 2012년 12월에 있었던 북한의 '광명성 3호 위성' 발사를 '대륙간탄도미사일' 발사 실험으로 호도하여 UN 안보리 상임위 지위를 이용한 미국, 중국, 러시아 등이 UN 대북재제를 결의한 사건입니다. 주지 하듯, 북한은 2013년 2월에 제3차 핵실험을 강행하였습니다.

결론적으로, '(북한의) 도발 - 재제 - 타협 - 보상'이라는 패턴이 '타협 - (미국의) 이행 지연 및 파기 - 도발 - 재제'의 패턴으로도 읽힐 수 있고, 북한의 '핵 도발' 행태는 예측 가능한 패턴을 띠고 있다는 것입니다. 즉, 우리가 알고 있는 것과는 달리, 북한의 행태는 즉자적이거나 돌발적이지 않고, 합리적이고 이성적인 특성을 보이고 있다는 것입니다.

한반도 위기의 패턴을 어떤 식으로 이해를 하든, 원인 제공자로 누구를 지목하든, 그 악순환의 고리를 끊을 수 있는 유일한 방법은, 북한에 대한 선제 공격으로 한반도와 그 주변 지역을 쑥대밭으로 만들 생각이 아니라면, '북미간의 제네바합의'와 6자 회담의 결과물인 '9.19 공동성명'에 반영된 북한의 '요구'-- 평화협정 체결, 북미간/북일간 관계 정상화, 경제재제 해제 및 협력 등 -- 를 들어줌으로써 '도발'의 싹을 원천적으로 제거해버리는 것입니다.

그러나, 문제는 북한이 이전까지 받아들였던 '한반도 비핵화 - 북핵 불능화'라는 전제 조건이  6자 회담의 답보와 '전략적 인내'라는 방치 기간 동안 돌아올 수 없는 다리를 건너 버리고 말았다는 사실입니다. 북한은 2012년 4월에 개정된 헌법 서문에 '핵보유국'이라는 표현을 담았고, 2013년 3월에는 당중앙위원회 전원회의를 개최해 '경제건설과 핵무력건설 병진'이라는 새로운 노선을 채택함으로써, 자신들의 자위와 자결을 위해 핵무기를 포기하지 않겠다는 분명한 입장을 밝힌 것입니다. 

따라서, 이제 '비핵화' 문제는 아이러니하게도 한반도에 위기를 조장하는 또 하나의 변수가 될 가능성이 매우 높아졌습니다. 만약, 주변 국가들이 '비핵화'를 협상의 전제 조건으로 내세울 경우, 한반도 위기의 악순환은 계속될 것이 불을 보듯 뻔합니다.   

이제, 냉정하게 질문을 다시 던져야 할 시점입니다. 북한이 머리에 이고 있는 핵은 북한이 줄기차게 요구하고 있는 평화협정 체결과 관계 정상화의 걸림돌인가? 북한이 머리에 이고 있는 핵은 한반도 및 세계 평화와 동북아 지역 질서의 안전을 해치는 것인가?

이달 5월에는 '한미 정상회담'과 '북한 특사의 방중'이라는 굵직한 외교 행보가 있었습니다. 그런데, 서로 다른 두 지역에서 그냥 지나칠 수 없는 상징적인 '상황'들이 각각 포착됩니다. 즉,

• 미국의 국무부 장관 죤 케리, 한미 정상회담 기간 동안 러시아 출장으로 부재.
• 중국의 시진핑 주석, 북한 특사 방중 기간에 스촨성 현지 시찰을 이유로 자리를 비웠고, 출발 당일에서야 면담 성사

세계 초강대국 미국이 자신의 패권 유지를 위해 사활을 걸고 있는 것은 단 하나, 미국 달러가 휴지조각이 되지 않도록 하는 것입니다. 현재 미국이 직면하고 있는 패권유지의 약한 고리는 다음 두 가지로 요약될 수 있습니다.

• '페트로달러' 체제를 위협하는 '시리아 - 이란 - 이라크 - 러시아' 
• 재무성 채권 최대 보유국인 중국 

한국 정상의 방미 기간 중에 있었던 '케리 국무장관의 부재'는 미국의 현 외교정책과 전략에 있어 한반도가 점하는 위상이 어디인지를 보여주는 상징적인 사건이라 할 수 있습니다.

전 통일부장관 정세현 원광대 총장은 방미 기간 중에 발표된 '한미동맹 60주년 공동 선언문'의 내용을 놓고, '북핵'에 대한 미국의 입장이 '비핵화'가 아닌 '비확산'으로 정리가 된 것으로 판단하고 있습니다.

공동선언문 중 "북한의 도발로부터 양국 국민들을 보호하기 위해 북한의 미사일 위협에 대한 공동의 대응 노력과 함께 정보-감시-정찰 체계 연동을 포함한 포괄적이고 상호 운용 가능한 연합방위력을 지속강화해나갈 것이다"라는 부분은 사실상 MD를 의미하는 것입니다. 이 내용을 볼 때 미국은 이미 북핵을 원천적으로 없애버리는 비핵화 수준으로 해결하려고 하는 생각은 접은 것으로 보입니다. 핵의 외부 유출만 막는 비확산을 미국의 정책 목표로 정했기 때문에 MD얘기를 숨겨 놓은 것이라고 볼 수 있습니다. 우리한테는 죽고 사는 문제인 북핵문제 해결에 대해 미국은 막상 늑장을 부리고 중국에게 해결을 맡기면서 자신들은 시리아 문제에 올인 하고 있는 것도 그런 흐름이라고 볼 수 있을 것 같습니다. 미국이 북한의 비핵화가 현실적으로 불가능하거나 미국 국익에 도움이 안 된다고 판단했다는 것인데, 아마 후자일 거라고 봅니다. 한편, 출국 당일날에서야 어렵사리 중국의 시진핑 주석을 만난 북한의 최룡해 총정치국장은 한반도 비핵화 원칙 고수와 북한의 핵보유국 지위를 인정하지 않겠다는 중국의 분명한 입장과 불편한 심기를 확인하고 북한으로 돌아갔습니다.

현 한반도 정세를 형성하는 관련국들의 입장을 다시 한 번 요약하자면 다음과 같습니다.

• '비확산'을 정책 목표로 정해 놓고 한 발을 빼려는 미국.
• 6자 회담의 주도권을 잃지 않고 한반도를 비핵화로 묶어 놓으려는 중국.
• 발칸, 아프간, 이라크, 리비아 등의 교훈을 잊을 리 없는 '마이웨이'의 북한.
• '한반도 신뢰프로세스'를 추진하겠다는 한국.

현 한반도 정세의 키는 미국도 중국도 아닌 바로 한국이 쥐고 있습니다. 현 시점에서 한국 정부가 '비핵화'를 고수할 경우, 한반도는 미국과 중국의 방관하에 불필요한 남북간의 갈등으로 비화되어 남과 북이 모두 고사될 가능성이 농후합니다. 어리석은 일입니다!

유일한 해결책은, 한국이 북한을 핵보유국으로 인정하여 한반도에 숨통을 틔우고 중국을 압박하는 것입니다. 설령, 중국이 반대를 한다 하더라도, 한국의 협조하에 북한이 미국과 관계 정상화를 이루고 평화협정을 체결하는데 있어 중국이 뿌릴 수 있는 고추가루는 거의 없다고 보아야 합니다. 아마 중국 입장에서 가장 우려하는 카드는 한국이 북한을 핵보유국으로 인정하는 '선방'을 날리는 것일 것입니다.

또한, 동아시아 '긴장 포인트'를 한반도에서 쿠릴열도 (러-일), 남사군도 (중-베-필-말-대), 센카쿠 열도 (일-중-대) 등의 '돌섬'들로 옮겨가게 해서 남과 북이 불필요한 군비 지출을 하는 일 없이 교류와 협력에 매진할 수 있도록 해야 합니다. 이때, 북한이 머리에 이고 있는 핵은 미-중 강대국의 패권 다툼 틈바구니에서 남과 북의 공동 자위와 자결을 위한 한반도 핵방패가 되도록 해야 합니다!

'한반도 신뢰프로세스'라는 용어 사용으로 이전 이명박 정부의 '선 비핵화' 정책과 차별을 예고 했던 박근혜 정부는, 안타깝게도 말만 바뀌었을 뿐이라는 실망스러운 결론을 내리게 합니다.

아무리 '마이웨이'라고 하지만, 특사는 중국이 아닌 한국으로 보냈어야 하는 것이 아닌가 하는 답답함과 아쉬움이 떠나질 않습니다.

자존심이 생존보다 우선하나? 우린 샴쌍둥이야, 이 바보들아!

In 2011, I accidentally visited a website named Money & Life, where I learned of one of the greatest books in my life, Sacred Economics. 

At that time the host of the website tried to raise a fund to do post-production jobs for her documentary film, Money & Life. I donated small sum to the film. And this year 2013 the film has been released at the end of the day!

As the filmmaker, Katie Teague explains, Money & Life is "a passionate and inspirational essay-stlye documentary that asks a provocative question: can we see the economic crisis not as a disaster, but as a tremendous opportunity? This cinematic odyssey connects the dots on our current economic pains and offers a new story of money based on an emerging paradigm of planetary well-being that understands all of life as profoundly interconnected." (emphasis added)

재작년으로 기억됩니다.  '돈'과 관련된 주제로 인터넷을 뒤지다가 우연히 Money & Life 라는 사이트를 알게되었습니다.

홈페이지의 주인장은 Katie Teague라는 독립 다큐멘터리 감독겸 제작자였고, 당시 그녀는 자신이 제작 중인 다큐멘터리 <Money & Life>의 후반 마무리 작업을 위해 돈을 모으고 있었습니다.  일종의 Crowdfunding이었습니다. 제작이 완료되면 DVD도 보내주고 이름도 Credits에 올려준다길래 약간의 기부를 했습니다.

기다리고 기다려도 소식이 없어 하얗게 잊고 있었는데, 지난 3월에 드디어 미국 시애틀에서 상영을 한다는 소식을 받았고, 5월 1일에는 '세상의 모든 사람들과 함께 공유하겠다'는 취지로 무상 공개하겠다는 메일을 받았습니다.

이 다큐멘터리는 "돈"에 대한 (익숙하지만 사실은 무지한) 우리의 '통념'에 도발적인 문제제기를 합니다. 인류가 고안해 낸 위대한 아이디어인 "돈"!  상호연결됨을 전제로, 재화와 용역의 '교환'이라는 경제 활동의 "흐름(current)"을 원할하게 촉진시켜준 "돈(currency)."  이 신비스럽고 신령한 촉매로써의 "돈"이 어찌하여 우리의 머리 꼭대기에 올라가 "돈이 없으면 이 풍요로운 세상에서 생존이 불가능한 지경"으로 경도되었는지, 우리의 삶과 그 삶의 터전을 어떻게 황폐화 시키고 있는지, 그리고 어떻게 다시 극복할 수 있는지...  이 다큐는 이런 질문들을 차분하게 묻고 그 실마리를 찾아가는 여정을 화면에 담아내었습니다.

제작자의 의도처럼, 우리의 일상을 전쟁과도 같이 고달프게 옥죄고 있는 '경제위기들'이 재앙으로 끝이 나는 것이 아니라, '잃어버린 웃음과 미소', '잃어버린 나눔의 기쁨', '잃어버린 공동체의 행복', 그리고 '가려진 풍요'를 회복할 수 있는 절호의 기회가 되기를!

한반도 위기 - 미. 중. 러의 사보타지?

올해가 정전(停戰) 60주년이 되는 해라고 합니다. 참으로 오랜 세월을 아슬아슬하게 버텨오고 있습니다. 살벌했던 이번 긴장 국면도 다행히 큰 불상사 없이 지나갈 것 같으나, 어리석게도 '개성공단' 문제를 긁어 큰 부스럼을 키우고 있어 안타깝습니다.
도대체 왜, 그리고 언제까지 이 지긋지긋한 '반복'을 계속 해야하는 것인지...

남한 사람들에게 북한은 정말이지 '불편한 이웃'입니다. 그 이웃의 속사정을 제대로 알지도, 알려고 하지도 않으면서 (사실, 알아서는 안되죠) 그저 생뚱맞고 불편할 뿐입니다. 북한 사람들도 사정은 마찬가지겠죠. 그들에게 남한은 아마 한 대 쥐어박고 싶은 '얄미운 이웃'이 아닐까 싶습니다.

한국전쟁 이후 남북간의 왕래가 엄격하게 통제되어 온 마당에, 비무장지대를 경계로 남과 북이 '서로 별볼일 없이' 존재해주었으면 차라리 좋겠는데, 현실은 그렇지 못합니다. 상대방의 존재가 각자의 체제유지에 없어서는 아니될 주요한 정치적 자원으로 존재하는 것도 그런 이유의 하나일 것입니다. (남한의 경우 살벌한 '빨갱이 사냥'에서부터 최근의 절묘한 '종북 프레임'까지)

하나도 아니고 그렇다고 둘도 아닌, 서로 깔끔하게 떨어지고 싶어도 떨어질 수 없는 '배달의 샴쌍둥이'!

이 무서운 저주는 2차 세계 대전 종전으로 형성된 전후 세계 질서 재편과 함께 한반도에 스며들게 됩니다. 일제 식민지로부터의 해방과 자주적 독립국가 건설의 기회가 당시 '자본주의 세계체제의 맹주'로 부상한 미국 (Wall Street와 Pentagon)의 전략적 포석에 의해 무산되고, 그 불편한 기형적 비극이 오늘날까지 지속되고 있는 것입니다.  여기에 애꿎은 재일교포들이 겪고있는 사연까지 더하면, 그 어떤 문학적-예술적 틀로도 이 황당하고 참담한 비극을 다 담아낼 수는 없을 것입니다.

허나! 저주 받은 자들이 스스로 그 비극을 자각할 때만이 그 비극 속에서 연민과 인정이 움틀 수 있고, 그 자각된 연민과 인정만이 저주를 풀 수 있기에 희망을 잃지않습니다.

최근 한반도에 조성된 긴장의 원인은 '의심의 여지없이' 우리의 불편한 이웃이 저지른 일련의 도발적인 행동들 때문인 것으로 알려지고 있습니다. 북한이 국제법상 근거 없는 '국제 사회의 충고'를 무시하고 로켓을 발사해 위성체를 우주로 쏘아 올렸고, 이에 대한 UN 안보리의 근거없는 제재 결의에 반발하면서 핵 실험까지 감행했기 때문입니다.

특이한 점은 북한의 동맹국이라 할 수 있는 중국과 러시아가 이제까지 유지 해오던 입장 (북한의 평화적 우주 공간 이용 권리 옹호)을 포기하고 오히려 미국이 주도하는 UN 안보리의 제재 결의안에 '찬성' 표를 던졌다는 것입니다.

이에 대해 '오죽했으면 그들 마저 등을 돌리겠냐'는 식의 해석이 지배적인 가운데, nsnbc international 의 Chritof Lehmann씨는 자신의 글 <Korea Crisis and Sanctions Designed to Sabotage Transformation of DPRK Economy in 2013>에서 귀담아 들어 볼만한 가치가 있는 '소수 의견'을 내놓았습니다. 

제목에서 알 수 있는 것처럼, 작금의 한반도 위기와 대북 제재는 미국이 주도하는 여론 몰이에 편승한 중국과 러시아가 미국과 공동으로 2013년으로 예정된 북한의 경제 개방을 사보타지하기 위해 의도된 조치라는 것입니다.

Lehmann씨의 글은 한반도 위기라는 국지적 문제가 어떻게 전지구적인 다른 문제들과 엉켜있는지를 보여 줌으로써 한반도 문제를 바라보는 시각이 협소한 국지적 수준에 그쳐서는 안되고 그 해법 또한 국지적 수준에 갖혀서는 도출될 수 없음을 우리에게 암시하고 있습니다.  아래는 그의 글을 약간의 양념을 섞어 요약한 것입니다.



3. 

북한의 "시장 경제로의 전환" 

Lehmann씨에 의하면, 북한은 2004년부터 독일의 전문가 그룹 (정치, 경제, 사회, 법률 등 각 분야 전문가)과 긴밀한 관계를 유지하면서 그들로부터 "시장 경제로의 전환"과 관련한 자문을 받아왔다고 합니다. (독일의 유력 매체인 Der Spiegel과 Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung 등도 이와 관련된 기사를 내보낸 바 있다고 합니다.)

따라서, 북한의 김정은이 올해 신년사에서 "2013년은 .... 사회주의 강성국가 건설의 전환적 국면을 열어나갈 거창한 창조와 변혁의 해"라고 언급한 것은 수사적 빈말이 아니라 상당 기간 동안 준비되어왔던 시장 경제로의 전환을 추진하겠다는 의지의 표현이라는 것입니다.

이미 "흡수통일 (Shotgun Wedding)"의 명암을 경험했던 독일의 전문가 그룹들의 조언은 기본적으로 북한의 성공적인 '시장 경제로의 전환'과 '한반도 분단의 평화적 해결'이라는 과제는 북한의 현 체제가 안정적으로 보장되어 '그 전환의 기간' 동안 남북간의 경제 격차가 최소화 될 수 있도록 해야 한다는 점에 바탕을 두고 있었다고 합니다. '한반도 흡수통일 (Koean Shotgun Wedding)'의 상황은 피해야 한다는 것이죠. 

북한이 2013년에 추진하려는 '전환'의 핵심 밑그림은 아래 세 가지로 요약됩니다.

• 경제특구를 조성하여 개방을 시도한 중국식 모델이 아닌 베트남식 모델을 모방함. 즉,  아시아 및 유럽 국가들의 선별된 파트너들과의 협력을 통하여 시장 개방 (북한이 언급한 특정 국가는 한국, 일본 그리고 독일이었다고 합니다. Lehmann씨는 중국과 러시아가 빠져 있다는 점을 강조합니다.)
• 대중국 교역 관계의 제고 
• 독일 및 유럽 국가들로부터의 자문은 단순 자문으로 끝나지 않는다는 점 (독일 전문가 그룹은 현 독일 집권당의 핵심 인사들과 깊은 관계를 맺고 있다고 합니다) 

미국이 사보타지로 얻는 것

주지하듯이, 한반도 위기와 긴장은 미국에게는 더없는 "꽃놀이패"입니다. 북한의 안보 위협만큼이나 동북아지역에서 미국의 군사적 패권을 유지 보강하면서 궁극적으로 중국을 압박할 수 있는 더 좋은 명분은 없습니다.

또한 미국 (Wall Street와 Pentagon)의 입장에서, 북한의 '체제 변화 (regime change)'가 선행되지 않은, 즉 자신들의 개입과 통제가 수월하지 않는 상황에서 북한이 준비된 '시장 경제로의 전환'을 추진하게 될 경우, 필연적으로 뒤따를 수밖에 없는 북한과의 평화협정체결 및 남북 관계 개선으로 인한 통일의 발판 마련 등은 결코 득이되는 상황은 아닙니다.

중국이 사보타지로 얻는 것

북한과 중국의 경제적 교역 관계에 대한 우리의 상식은, 60년이라는 세계 최장의 경제제재를 북한이 버텨낼 수 있었던 것은 우방인 중국의 원조 때문이었고, 그 만큼 북한 경제의 대중국 의존도는 매우 심각한 수준에 달해있다는 것입니다.

이 상식은 '중국을 설득하여 북한을 압박하면 북한은 자동적으로 따라올 수밖에 없다'라는 공식과도 연결되어 있습니다. 그러나 북한은 그 공식이 성립되지 않음을 '핵 실험 강행'이라는 행동으로 보여주었습니다. 

김정은 체제가 들어서면서 북한은 중국을 향해 '북중 교역 관계의 변화'와 관련한 의미심장한 메세지들을 던졌다고 합니다. 즉, 중국이 내심 바라는 것처럼 북한은 '값싼 천연자원과 노동력을 중국에 제공하고 중국의 값싼 제품을 수입하여 소비하는 시장'으로 전락하지 않을 것이라는 메세지가 그 것입니다. 

실제로, 북한은 2011년에 약 20%의 경제 성장을 기록했고, 2012년에는 약 30%의 성장을 이루었으나 중국의 대북 교역 이익은 줄어들고 있다고 합니다. (이와 관련하여 최근 서재정 교수도 한 기고문에서 "북의 경제 성장은 워싱턴의 보수적 전문가들도 부인하기 어려운 수준이 되었고, 이를 '중국의 덕'으로만 돌리기 어려운 정황들이 널려있다'고 밝힌 바 있습니다.)

중국의 입장에서, 북한이 계획대로 독일 등의 유럽 국가들과 손을 잡고 하이테크 산업을 포함여 전자, 가전 부분 등의 산업 발전에 박차를 가하게 된다면, 그리고 한 발 더 나아가 군사 외교적으로도 유럽 국가들 및 일본과 유대관계를 구축하게 된다면, 더우기 장기적으로 남과 북이 통일의 절차를 밟아 말 그대로 '핵보유 단일 강성 국가'가 국경을 바로 접하고 존재하게 된다면?

위에서 언급한 '가상의 상황'을 중국이 용인할 수 없기 때문이라는 것 외에, 최근 BRICS 회원국들과 함께 'BRICS 개발 은행'을 세우겠다는 중국이 혈맹국 북한을 국제금융시스템에서 고립 (이번 UN 안보리 제재의 핵심) 시키려는 이유를 설명할 수 있을까요?

러시아가 사보타지로 얻는 것

러시아가 이번  UN 안보리의 대북 제제 결의안에 찬성표를 던진 속사정과 배경은 중국의 그것과는 달리 좀더 복잡하고, 심지어 표면적으로는 무관해 보이기까지 합니다. 이를 이해하기 위해서는 먼저 에너지문제를 둘러싼 '러시아-유럽연합(EU) 간의 갈등'과 중동지역의 분쟁을 이해해야 합니다.  

EU 국가들에게 있어 천연가스의 안정적인 수급은 사활이 걸린 '에너지 안보' 사안 입니다. 현재 주요 천연가스 공급원은 러시아와 터키이고, 여기에 2007년에 발견된 세계 최대의 매장량을 보유한 '페르시아 가스전 (PARS)'이 개발 완료되면 또 다른 공급원을  추가하게 됩니다.

아무런 변수가 없다면, EU 국가들은 러시아와 페르시아만(이란에서 출발해서 이라크와 시리아를 거쳐 유럽으로 가게됩니다)으로부터 필요한 천연가스의 50% 이상을 효율적으로 안정적으로 공급 받을 수 있습니다. 현재 EU는 천연가스의 약 22% ~ 26%를 러시아로부터 공급받고 있으며, 이는 향후 EU와 러시아가 경제적으로 통합할 수 있는 중요한 요소 중의 하나입니다. 

문제는 에너지 부문에서의 '천연가스의 약진'과 그를 배경으로 한 'EU - 러시아간의 경제 대통합'의 상황을 좌시할 수 없는 세력이 존재한다는 것입니다. 최근 EU가 미국과 영국의 강력한 '협박'으로 채택한 EU's Third Energy Package, 그리고 시리아에 대한 군사적 개입의 지지는 러시아와 EU 국가들, 특히 독일과 러시아의 외교적 갈등을 야기하고 있습니다. 

이런 맥락에서, 하이테크 산업 부문에서 협력을 해오던 독일과 러시아의 관계는 미국의 눈치를 보아야 하는 독일의 처지로 위축될 수밖에 없고, 이 상황을 누구보다도 더 잘 알고 있는 러시아 입장에서는 북한이 러시아를 대신하여 독일의 카운터 파트너가 될 가능성을 배제할 수 없다는 것입니다. 이것이 러시아가 UN안보리의 대북 제재 결의에 찬성을 던진 첫번째 이유이며, 또 다른 이유는 장기적으로 북한이 독일 일본 등과 긴밀한 관계를 유지하게 되면 자연스럽게 '쿠릴열도' 문제가 부상하는 것을 두려워 하기 때문이라는 것입니다.

결론

2013년 한반도 위기는 북한의 위성 발사 및 핵실험과는 관련이 거의 없으며, 오히려 핵보유 강국대국이자 UN 안전보장이사회의 상임이사국들인 미국, 중국, 러시아가 UN에서의 자신들의 권한을 남용하여 계획 경제에서 시장 경제로의 전환를 꾀하려는 북한의 계획을 사보타지 하려는데 있다는 것입니다.

Not really! It is more likely than that if we have the tools...

Then, what on earth has been kept us from taking control of money? It is 'the common superstition that money springs from the State'. 

According to E. C. Riegel, "Money can be issued only by a buyer who later, as a seller, redeems his issue."  

"Money can be issued only by a buyer who later, as seller, redeems his issue. He must, to stay inbusiness, bid for money with value because that is his only way of gainingincome. Contrast the State’s situation. It is not a trader; it does not sell.  It needs not bid for money; it merely requisitions it by taxation. Since it has no way of redeeming money by open competitive bidding, it cannotissue it and its professed money issues are inescapably spurious."

But, in reality, all money is issued by a State!!! Prof. Riegel named the money issued by a State as Political Money, and explained:

"What is the strange power that makes the government at Washington grow stronger and our state and local governments grow weaker while the people suffer the torment of war and the travail of insecurity and the shadow of dictatorship falls across the land? It is the same power that oppresses the people of all the world — the political money power.

The political money power is the power of national governments to buy the people’s sweat and blood with scraps of paper – paper that falls like a blotter upon our production and our freedom. Each day our wealth diminishes and more of our liberties vanish. Inflation that threatens to bring chaos is just around the corner. As our sons bleed and our mothers weep, the same grinding power throws its pall over other lands.  Yet our chains are paper – paper money that, through our ignorance, binds us to the treadmill of our own destruction."

Apart from the problem that the money is created out of thin air as debt in this modern banking system, what does a Government sell with the political money power? They sell 'austerity' and 'wars on bullshits (fears and imaginary security packages)' to their people. Am I wrong?

We are now witnessing how busy the governments in the world, especially the US government, to sell  its 'unnatural' 'goods and services' to its own people and others of all over the world.

Why don't we stop feeding the 'Merchant of Death'?

Buy 'Control of Money (Money Power)', Not Gold!

How can we understand the recent gold plunge, the largest drop in the past 30 years?

It is reported that there was 400 tons of "naked shorts" in the gold future market in a day on April 12. And it triggered the rapid fall in the gold price.

I agree with Dr. Paul Craig Roberts who sees it as an 'orchestrated attack' by Fed in order to buttress the value of the dollar. 

But I disagree with Gordon Gekko who guess that "the government and banksters (i.e. the oligarchy) must be REALLY pissing their pants" for fear of losing strength of their fiat moneys.  Actually they are not! I still remember a story that in a special training course for newly hired 'wall street' guys, the former Fed chairman Paul Volcker did light a bundle of USD notes with a match and then light a cigar with the USD notes!    

No wonder Goldbugs like Gordon Gekko give a strong advise to buy gold NOW with the discount of a life time! However, without their advices, people in the world is now doing it wildly. 

For me and surely for others who have no money to buy gold, such kind of advice is not meaningful at all.

I would rather suggest myself and people in this world to buy "Control of Money (Money Power)"!

MONEY POWER IN YOU by E. C. Riegel

There is a treasure buried in your consciousness. If you will dig it up from the debris of superstition and fear that covers it you will gain a freedom and self—mastery that will lift your life to a higher plane. This is the money power in you. And one more thing! Let's bear in mind that it is a WAR in the field of Consciousness.

One of famous quotes from Admiral Lee Sun Shin in Joseon Dynasty of Korea is "必死則生 必生則死", which means “Those who are willing to give their lives will survive, but those who try to survive will die in the battle field.”  

For this war of consciousness, I would like to copy and modify the quote like this: "必取則失 必惠則得", which means “Those who are willing to give and share will get something, but those who try to look out for their own interests will lose."

"Deposit Tax" activates "Imaginal Discs" in the System

Ironically, the activation button for the transformation process has been pressed by the System Administrators, not by the Subordinates.

It was probably not easy for the Troika (EC, IMF, ECB) to find appetizing items of so-call 'structural adjustments' in Cyprus, a small island country whose population is around one million. Otherwise, they would not have drawn out the idea of "Deposit Tax," which I believe will surely accelerate the transformation process in the current Global Monetary System.

Nick Malkoutzis, a deputy editor of Kathimerini English Edition, points out in his recent article, Cyprus: It's not about the numbers, that "the idea of a deposit tax and the way it was adopted has released something poisonous in the air."

"Even if capital flight from Cyprus as a result of this decision is less severe than many fear, even if Cypriot banks survive this real stress test, even if the island’s economy is not set back many years, even if savers in Greece, Spain, Portugal and Italy don’t panic, the idea of a deposit tax and the way it was adopted has released something poisonous in the air. It is difficult to see how these citizens will be able to trust the system - be it their governments, banks or eurozone partners - in the weeks to come. Belief in countries where the economy is contracting and unemployment growing is already vitreous and planting fears about a possible deposits grab in the future could shatter it completely.

Some will argue that the numbers involved in Cyprus are not that big, that small depositors will not lose a lot. This misses the point. Again, it’s not about the numbers, it’s about perceptions. Cypriot savers will not be so concerned about losing a few hundred euros here or there. After all, they know what’s going on in Greece and are aware that if they don’t pay a deposit levy, they’ll pay through higher taxes, lower wages and reduced spending." 

What Nick Malkoutzis sees as "something poisonous in the air" are none other than "imaginal discs" at the heart of metamorphosis of caterpillar into a butterfly?

Impending Nuclear War in Korean Peninsular? Maybe. But...

Most international mainstream media have been so busy to convey the public image that it is North Korea, not the US and its South Korean ally, who is the aggressor and insane nuclear threat. And, unfortunately, North Korean's bellicose rhetoric seems to make such kind of image real.

Let's stop and smell the coffee.

As Carl von Clausewitz wrote in his book, On War, "war is merely the continuation of politics by other means." However, "no one start a war -- or rather, no one in his sense ought to do so -- without first being clear in his mind what he intends to achieve by the war and how he intends to conduct it."

Then, we cannot help asking the following questions:

• What does North Korea intend to achieve by the nuke? 
• Does Pyungyang really want to go to war with the nuke?   

An excellent article by Stephan Gowans, Why North Korea Needs Nuclear Weapons, gives us the answer for the first question.

The second question is not easy to answer, but we may get it from a retired American basketball player Dennis Rodman who recently met up the North Korean leader Kim Jung-un in Pyungyang.

영화 <아르고> ... Argo, Fuck Yourself! Please!

1970년대 격동의 이란 국내 정치 상황을 담은 영상자료와 나레이션이 흐르면서 시작되는 영화, <아르고> ... 이 초반 도입부는 한국 영화관에서 개봉되고 있는 '따끈따끈한' 영화라는 것 외에 아무런 사전 지식이 없었던 저에게 순간적으로 '심상치 않은 영화'일 것이란 기대감을 불러일으키기에 충분하였습니다. 

허나, "역시 헐리우드!" 였습니다! 

영화 속 주인공이나 다름없는 CIA는 테헤란 주재 캐나다 대사의 사저로 피신해 숨어있는 6명의 미국 대사관 직원을 기발한 아이디어로 "구출"해내는 '정의의 수호천사'로 묘사됩니다.

그런데 만약 CIA가 영화에서 묘사된 것처럼 문제의 해결사가 아니라 사실은 그 문제를 일으킨 당사자 중의 하나라면?

이란의 학자인 Fara Mansoor씨는 10년에 걸친 연구를 통해 방대한 관련 자료들을 꼼꼼한 논리로 정리하여 "이란 인질 사건은 CIA와 이란의 이슬람 근본주의 세력이 은밀하게 결탁하여 양쪽의 정치적 목적을 동시에 달성하기 위해 기획된 공작의 일부"라고 단정합니다.

1979년 11월 4일에 일어 난 "이란 인질 사건"은 성난 이란 군중들에 의해 무계획적으로 저질러진 사건 혹은 이란 혁명으로 권력을 잡은 호메이니 체제가 독자적으로 일으킨 무분별한 행위가 아니라 George W. H. Bush가 이끄는 CIA와 이란의 이슬람 근본주의 세력이 은밀하게 결탁하여 양쪽의 정치적 목적을 동시에 달성하기 위해 기획된 작품"이다. (“The U.S.-Iran hostage crisis was not a spontaneous act by Iranian mobs or a senseless act devised solely by the Khomeini regime. Rather, it was a politically manufactured event by the Bush-led CIA and top Iranian Islamic fundamentalists that was intended to promote the political goals of the Bush-Reagan coalition and Khomeini’s regime simultaneously.”)

Fara Mansoor씨의 위와 같은 주장은 Global Research에 소개된 The Real Iran Hostage Crisis: A CIA Covert Op에 잘 요약되어 있습니다. (관련 인터뷰 참조)

Mansoor씨는 이 사건을 두 개의 틀을 통해 조망합니다. 즉,

• 70년대 중반 이후의 이란 국내 정치 상황과 이 격동의 상황을 자신들의 통제하에 두려는 미국 (CIA)의 개입 (권력 이양 공작)
• 미국 파워 엘리트 세력간 조직내의 갈등, 특히 카터 행정부와 CIA(내 친 Bush파) 사이의 갈등

당시 이란은 1953년에 일어난 군부 쿠테타로 민선 총리를 몰아내고 권좌에 오르게 된 팔레비 왕조가 절대권력을 휘두르고 있었고 (이 군부 쿠테타에 미국 CIA가 개입했다는 사실은 현 오바마 미국 대통령도 공식적으로 시인하였습니다.), 부패한 팔레비 정권에 대한 이란 민중들의 반감과 저항이 고조되고 있던 상황이었습니다.

팔레비가 암에 걸렸다는 사실을 알고 있었던 CIA는 팔레비의 예견된 사망으로 인한 권력의 공백 상황과 그로 인한 자신들의 통제권 상실을 피하기 위해 '포스트 팔레비'를 대비하지 않을 수 없는 상황이기도 하였습니다. 

한편, 1976년은 미국 대통령 선거가 있었던 해로 민주당 후보로 출마한 지미 카터가 대통령에 당선됩니다. 선거 운동 기간 동안 "인권"을 내세웠던 카터는 CIA의 불법적인 비밀 공작을 비판하며 CIA의 조직 축소를 공약으로 내걸었습니다. 

카터는 당시 CIA 국장이었던 George W. H. Bush를 새로운 인물로 교체하였고, 취임 첫 해인 1977년 '할로윈 데이 (10월 30일)'에 무려 800명의 CIA 요원을 해고 시킵니다. (이름하여 '할로윈 대학살')   

이에 CIA 조직내 친 Bush파는 다음과 같은 반격 목표를 설정합니다.

• 카터 행정부 무력화 : '레이건-부시팀'을 백악관으로!
• 이란 이슬람 공화국의 탄생 : CIA 통제하에 있는 반공주의자 호메이니를 '포스트 팔레비'로 내세워 이란의 여타 정치 세력을 무력화 시킨다
• '새로운 세계 질서' 초석 마련 : 이란을 미국의 적성국으로 포장하여 상시적 갈등을 조장함으써 양국에 존재하는 비민주적인 정치적 법적인 구조들에 정당성을 부여할 수 있도록 한다

1979년 11월 4일 부터 무려 444일 간 지속된 '인질극'은 소위 "October Surprise (선거 전에 여론을 움직이기 위해 벌이는 공작을 일컫는 말. 우리로 치면 '북풍')"도 아니고, 이란 혁명의 소용돌이 속에서 우발적으로 일어난 사건도 아닌, 미국 CIA의 친 Bush파가 상기 목표를 달성하기 위해 사전에 치밀하게 준비한 '자국민 인질극'이라는 것이 Mansoor씨의 결론입니다.

52명의 인질들은 레이건이 대통령에 취임하는 날(1981년 1월 20일) 가족들 품으로 돌아가게 됩니다.


   

딱 걸렸어!!!... 9/11 Truth, one step forwarded!

영국에서 Tony Rooke라는 영상 제작자가 TV 수신료 납부를 거부하여 기소된 일이 있습니다. 9/11과 관련한 다큐멘터리를 제작하기도 했던 그가 수신료 납부를 거부한 이유는 2011년에 BBC가 '9/11' 10주년을 맞아 제작 방영한 2편의 다큐멘터리와 관련이 있습니다.

그 두 편의 다큐멘터리에서 BBC는 기존 미국 정부의 공식적인 입장을 반복하는데 그치지 않고 숱하게 제기된 의혹들 (특히, 비행기 충돌과 무관했던 인근 무역센터 7번 건물의 붕괴)에 대해 납득할만한 증거를 제시하지 않은채 일방적으로 "음모론"이라고 매도를 하여 '9/11'의 진실을 밝히려는 단체와 시민들로부터 항의를 받게됩니다.

BBC는 과학적 증거를 제시하라는 요청을 묵살하였는데, 이에 대해 Tony Rooke씨는 다음과 같은 논리로 수신료 납부를 거부하였던 것입니다.

BBC가 '9/11'과 관련된 정보들을 은폐함으로써 결과적으로 테러리스트들에게 협력을 하고 있다고 의심된다. 영국의 테러법 (UK Terrorism Act 2000) 15장 3조에 의하면 테러리스트로 의심되는 집단에게 자금을 지원하는 것은 엄연히 불법이다. 따라서 BBC의 주요 자금원인 TV 수신료를 내는 것은 테러리스트로 의심되는 집단에게 자금을 지원하는 꼴이 되므로 TV수신료를 낼 수 없다!

Tony Rooke씨에 대한 재판이 지난 2월 25일에 있었습니다. 40여명 정도 들어갈 수 있는 재판정에 약 100여명의 지지자들이 재판정 안과 밖에서 그를 응원했다고 합니다. 물론 영국 및 여타 주요 언론매체들은 이 사건에 대해 일체 함구를 하고 있는 상황입니다.

사건을 맡은 판사는 Rooke씨에 대해 "조건부 석방 conditional discharge"이라는 판결을 내렸습니다. 조건부 석방이란 죄는 인정되지만 유죄 선고를 유예하는 것으로, 이는 법원이 피고인의 (위법)행위가 도덕적으로 우월한 위치에 있음을 인정했다고 해석될 수 있습니다.

Rooke씨에 대한 '유죄' 선고가 유예됨으로 인해, 항소 등의 법적 대응을 통한 BBC와의 진실싸움은 일단 무산되었습니다. BBC 입장에서는 수신료 몇백 파운드를 받아내는것 보다 훨씬 이득이 되는 판결이라 하겠습니다.
 
TV 수신료 납부 거부 운동을 통해 진실을 밝히려는 '촛불'이 영국에서 점화될지.....
Rooke씨의 향후 대응이 10여년이 지나도록 꼼짝않고 있는 우리 안과 밖의 '거짓과 음모의 벽'을 허물어뜨릴 일양지공(一陽指功)이 되기를 소망합니다.

STOP Banging the War Drums! ... 그만들 해라!

In an interview in November 2011, Henry Kissinger, who is a master and architect of US foreign policy since 1960s as a protege of David Rockefeller, said "If you can't hear the drums of war, you must be deaf!"

"The United States is baiting China and Russia, and the final nail in the coffin will be Iran, which is, of course, the main target of Israel. We have allowed China to increase their military strength and Russia to recover from Sovietization, to give them a false sense of bravado, this will create an all together faster demise for them. We're like the sharp shooter daring the noob to pick up the gun, and when they try, it's bang bang. The coming war will will be so severe that only one superpower can win, and that's us folks. Actually, 'the drums of war' which has been resounding at the moment is a kind of 'an ensemble' of cross-border (in the disguise of 'humanitarian intervention and responsibility to protect' and 'war on terror')  and within-border (in the disguise of 'austerity' and 'war on terror').

The question is "WHO is the composer and conductor of this disgusting ensemble?"

According to "REPORT FROM IRON MOUNTAIN":

War is not, as is widely assumed, primarily an instrument of policy utilized by nations to extend or defend their expressed political values or their economic interests. On the contrary, it is itself the principal basis of organization on which all modern societies are constructed. (emphasis added)

Our modern society itself is the War System serving private bank and corporate interests, not serving WE THE PEOPLE and other living beings' interests. So, it is no surprise at all to see the great psychopath Kissinger saying like above without any moral scruples.

"섹스를 통해 영적인 경지에 이를 수 있다 (Through our bodies touching, we can touch the divine.)"고 주장하시는 Adam Gilad씨가 오는 2월 10일에 "From Sex to Super-Consciousness: The Future of Love" 라는 주제로 온라인 강연을 합니다.

욕정과 수음마저도 도덕적 종교적으로 억압되었던 역사를 감안하면, 놀라운 진보가 아닐 수 없습니다. 

허나, 우리는 여전히 '매춘/혼외정사의 세계'와 '일부일처제가 강제하는 울타리' 사이에서 칙칙하게 흐느적거리고 있습니다.

아래 인용된 글은 위에 언급된 온라인 비디오 강연에 게스트로 초대된 Allex Allman씨의 글을 Reality Sandwich에서 허락없이 무단 전제한 글입니다.

왜 그러는 걸까요?

대부분의 사람들에게 '섹스'는 그저 '사랑하는 사람과 육체적 관계 맺기(욕정 해소)' 정도로 이해되고 있다는 것에서 문제는 시작됩니다.  이 정의에 따르면 '사랑'은 '육체적 관계 맺음'이라는 행위 과정 속에서 무언가 새롭게 적극적으로 창조되어지는 것이 아닌 수동적이고 부차적인 어떤 것으로 밀려나게 됩니다. 

또 다른 문제는 우리의 인지구조와 관련이 있습니다.
내가 내 스스로 알고있는 '나'는 과연 진정한 '나'일까? 하물며 내가 잘 알고 있다고 믿고 있는 '타인'은? 만약, 내가 알고 있는 '나'와 내가 알고 있는 '타인'이라는 것이 사실은 우리 뇌의 인지구조가 지어낸 '허상'이라면?

생면부지의 타인과는 '불타는 밤'을 보내면서도, 믿음과 사랑으로 긴 시간을 함께한 타인과는 '밤이 무서운' 현실...

침대에서 벗어야 할 것은 속옷만이 아니라 성스러운 '영육합일'을 가로막는 '나'와 '타인'에 대한 '허상'도 함께 벗어야 합니다.

Making Love and Sex With Strangers

It can feel like your sex drive is betraying your heart. You wish that you could be consumed with mad attraction for the person you love, and yet all too often, familiarity actually kills libido. You might even begin to feel shame around the simple truth that you are often more sexually aroused by thoughts of complete strangers than thoughts of the person who is so dear to your heart.

Yet it would be naive, or worse, self-deceptive, to not acknowledge that this is the way humans are built, and in absence of some intentional action on your part, this is likely the way your relationships will evolve.

A big part of the problem is that most people define "making love" simply as "sex with someone you love."


Their partner is the person they are most likely to feel judged by, and the person they most fear judgement from.  There is simply too much at stake.

The danger with that definition is that it assumes that love is passively to be enjoyed during sex, rather than something that you DO.

However, if you examine the phrase "making love," you might notice that it is not grammatically passive.  There is a powerful action term in there.  "Making" is creating -- perhaps the most demanding of all actions.  One can watch, listen, or even walk quite passively, but making or creating requires attention, intention, and presence.

In my definition, making love is in doing the work of surrendering the mind (or the ego) in service of relating.  It is being present with your shared desire rather than being wrapped up in your unconnected mental or emotional experience.

One of the unexpected consequences of this definition is that it is possible to engage in profound love-making with a total stranger in a didn't-even-catch-your-name one-night-stand.   

Being "in love" is not required for "making love." Rather, what is required is an openness to love itself and a willingness to "do love" by being present.  Further, it is often easier for some individuals to do this with a relative stranger than with someone they deeply love and respect, with whom they have shared many of life's trials and rewards, and with whom they've developed a deep and trusting relationship.

There are two reasons for this counterintuitive experience:

The first is that for a couple who have not practiced and worked at "doing love" while "making love" throughout their relationship, the path to being truly present with each other during sex becomes overgrown with all of the accumulated disappointments, minor betrayals, grudges, wrong-makings, and resentments of the years living together as partners in the business of life.

Eventually, for many couples, they wake up one day to discover that their life partner is the single most threatening person in the world for them to become sexually vulnerable, present, and real with. 

The second reason is that no human ever really accurately knows another in the terms of the "ego/I".  The person I know myself to be on a daily basis will never be the same person that exists in your mind of who I am.  

If we dig into the labyrinthian alleyways of modern spiritualism and non-duality, then we might agree that the person who I know myself to be on a daily basis is a fiction to begin with, just a story that I have created about myself to justify my self and hide from the terror of mortality.  And my fictional story of who I am and your fictional story of who I am are not likely to be exactly the same story.

The longer we know someone, the more entrenched our version of that story becomes. We might not be surprised to discover that someone we just met is, in fact, very different from the way we first imagined them.  But our parents, children, siblings and lovers?  We have built up strong certainties that we know them as well (or even better!) than they know themselves.

Bringing that story into bed with you, in open and loving acceptance of your partner, with all of their faults and all of their wonderful qualities... might feel a very great deal like intimacy.

Yet I'd like to offer a perspective that no matter how you bring that story into bed with you, you are actually destroying any chance of authentic intimacy, killing the freshness of attraction, and erecting powerful barriers to experiencing Making Love.

Try this instead:

Do whatever mental acrobatics you need to in order to completely drop your "knowing" and your familiarity of who your lover is.  Bring yourself back to presence, to seeing them new in the moment.

You will discover that it is more powerful to be present with your lover's orgasm - simply at the level of feeling and experience (or even just to be more present with his cock or her pussy and your own baseline animal feelings of arousal for their genitals), than it is to be present with your lover's personality.

Sometimes the training wheels necessary to get your mind to drop familiarity might involve a fantasy... perhaps a fantasy of a didn't-even-get-your-name one-night-stand. You close your eyes and then open them again to see this person before you completely new.  The truth of the situation opens for you and you relate to them not as "who they are," but as the root experience of being human together.

Bringing your self back to presence, seeing your lover in the moment simply as they are, and not as they have ever been before, and then experiencing them through erotic touch IS making love.  

At this level, sex becomes an entirely spiritual endeavor.  You are now in the space, not only of truly making love, but of truly making love with a person you are in love with. In this state of mutual experience, it is not uncommon to weep tears of joy over and over again, each time you make you love, because it is not something that never becomes routine or familiar.  

Ultimately, your commitment to "doing love" with your partner during sex will lead to moments of deep and profound recognition of Truth itself; which, of course, is the recognition of Love itself.

Banks are the Holy Churches of the Modern Economy?

Iceland's President, Olafur Ragnar Grimmson said in an interview with Al Jazeera's reporter on why Iceland survived where Europe has failed:

"... We didn't follow the traditional prevailing orthodoxies the Western world in the last 30 years. We introduced currency controls, we let the banks fail, we provided support for the poor, we didn’t introduce austerity measures as you’re seeing here in Europe..."

When asked if the Iceland's policy of letting the banks fail would work in the rest of Europe, he answered :

"… Why do they consider the banks to be the holy churches of the modern economy? Why are private banks not like airlines and tele-communication companies allowed to go bankrupt if they have conducted in an irresponsible way? The theory that you have to bail-out banks is a theory about bankers enjoying for their own profit their success, and letting ordinary people bear their failure through taxes and austerity. 
People in enlightened democracies are not going to accept that in the long run."

Decisions made by officials in the Massachusetts US Attorney’s office and at MIT contributed to his death. The US Attorney’s office pursued an exceptionally harsh array of charges, carrying potentially over 30 years in prison, to punish an alleged crime that had no victims. Meanwhile, unlike JSTOR, MIT refused to stand up for Aaron and its own community’s most cherished principles. — Statement from Aaron Swartz’s family & partner.

금리 조작, 돈 세탁 .... Too Big To Indict

The recent settlements for the cases of UBS (LIBOR rigging) and HSBC (Drug money laundering) explicitly expose the facts that the banks are above the laws and have a powerful shiled, which is called Geithner Doctrine ("Nothing must be done that will destabilize the banking system.").

By manipulating the rate upward, the banks robbed countless millions of people of billions of dollars in inflated loan costs. By manipulating the rate downward, they deprived states, cities, pension funds and retirees with fixed investments of untold billions in revenues from bond holdings.

By serving as financial conduits for the Mexican drug cartels, these banks have played a critical role in the drug war that has taken tens of thousands of lives in that country, not to mention the social devastation wrought in the US and around the world by the narcotics trade.

My verdict : The banking system itself is criminality!

LIBOR 금리 조작 사건과 관련하여 지난 6월에 영국계 Barclay 은행에 US$ 450 mil.의 벌금이 부여된 것에 이어 지난 주에 스위스계 UBS 은행도 US$ 1.5 bil.의 벌금 부여로 정리가 되었습니다.

미국 사법부 (the US Department of Justice)는 두 명의 UBS 직원을 형사 고발하고, UBS가 아닌 UBS의 일본 자회사에 대해 유죄를 인정하는 것으로 사건을 마무리 지었습니다.

LIBOR 금리 조작은 일개 은행원들의 도덕적 해이에 따른 단순한 '생계형 범죄'가 아닙다.
LIBOR 금리는 무려 US$ 800 trillions에 달하는 전 세계 금융상품의 거래와 연동되어 있는 참조 금리 (reference rate) 입니다. 여기에는 물론 우리에게 친숙한 기업 대출, 주택담보대출, 학자금 대출, 신용카드 등의 금융 상품도 포함됩니다.

2005년부터 2007년까지 Barclay, UBS 등의 글로벌 초대형 은행들은 LIBOR 금리를 올리는 수법으로 파생상품 도박에서 천문학적인 이윤을 갈취하였으며, 금융 위기 이후에는 자신들의 부실한 장부를 건전한 상태로 눈속임하고 조달 금리를 낮추기 위하여 LIBOR 금리를 떨어뜨렸습니다.

금리를 인위적으로 올려 셀 수 없는 많은 사람들로부터 천문학적인 수치의 부당 이익을 갈취했음은 물론이거니와, 금리를 인위적으로 떨어뜨려 연기금 등의 공적 성격을 띠고 있는 고정투자자산들을 갈취해갔습니다.  Wall Street Journal과 Huffingtonpost에 따르면, LIBOR 금리 조작으로 인한 Fannie Mae와 Freddie Mac의 손실이 US$ 3 bil. 에 달한다는 분석이 있다고 합니다.

그들이 구제금융까지 챙겨 보너스 잔치를 벌일때 99%인 우리는 어떠했습니까? 파산, 해고, 자살, 빚독촉, 가정 파괴, 물거품된 내집 마련의 꿈...

그런데도 이 엄청난 범죄 행위에 대한 심판의 결과과 고작 벌금형?

천문학적인 벌금 규모가 재발을 방지할 수 있는 본보기가 될 수 있다고 믿기때문일까요?
Barclay 은행에 부여된 벌금 US$ 450 mil.은 Barclay가 보고한 2011년 매출액 US$ 50 bil.의 1%도 안되는 액수입니다.

흥미로운 사실은  벌금형이 알려지자 UBS의 주가가 장 초반에 1.6% 상승하여 17개월 만에 최고치를 기록했다는 사실입니다. 그 이유는 벌금형으로 '불확실성'이 제거되었기 때문이랍니다.  ("Shares in the Swiss bank rose 1.6% to hit a 17-month high of 15.5 francs (US$ 16.97) in early trade as dealers said the settlement, which was expected, removed a major uncertainty."- Reuters)

그럼 도대체 불확실성을 제거해준 '확실성'의 실체는 무엇일까요?

그것은 다름 아닌 Geithner Doctrine이라는 '정책'입니다. 현 미국 재무장관의 이름을 딴 이 정책의 골자는 “금융시스템의 안정을 해치는 그 어떤 조치도 취해져서는 안된다 (nothing must be done that will destablize the banking system)." 입니다.  여기서, 안정을 해친다는 의미는 은행의 평판이나 이윤에 해를 입히는 것이며, 금융 시스템이란 아주 긴밀하게 연결된 대형 은행들을 말합니다. (“...destabilize” means “hurts the profits or reputation of” and “banking system” means “any bank that is pretty big and/or well connected”.)

이 정책의 실체를 확인해주는 또 하나의 사건은, 마약 카르텔의 검은 돈(Drug money) 세탁에 연루된 HSBC에게 미국 사법부, 재무부 그리고 통화관리당국 등은 형사 고발 대신 5년간의 기소유예 (a five-year deferred prosecution agreement)와 벌금형 (US$ 1.9 bil. -- HSBC의 2011년 수익 US$ 22 bil.의 8.6%)으로 최종 "합의"를 보았다는 사실입니다!!!  소위 Garthner Doctrine이라고 알려진 "정책"의 실체가 이제 공공연하게 금융관리당국 및 사법부의 입과 행동을 통해 입증되고 있습니다. 이 조치가 취해지자 월가는 기다렸다는 듯이 HSBC의 주가를 0.5% 포인트 받쳐주는 것으로 화답을 했습니다.

글로벌 대형은행들이 금융위기시에 입은 막대한 손실을 검은 돈 세탁으로 땜빵하고 있는 사이에 마약으로 인한 사회적 문제는 두말할 나위도 없고, 멕시코와 콜롬비아에서는 마약 조직들간의 패권 다툼과 마약 전쟁으로 수천의 무고한 시민들이 목숨을 잃었습니다.

2010년 Wachovia (지금은 Wells Fargo로 합병)의 마약자금 돈세탁을 고발했던 Martin Woods는 다음과 같은 말을 남겼습니다.

"은행들의 마약자금 세탁과 멕시코에서 목숨을 잃은 3만명과의 연관관계를 보지 못한다면, 당신은 요점을 놓치고 있는 겁니다.  "... if you don’t see the correlation between the money laundering by banks and the 30,000 people killed in Mexico, you’re missing the point.”

현 금융시스템은 우리의 상식과 심지어는 법 위에 군림하고 있으며, 그 핵심은 시스템 자체가 '범죄행위'라는 사실입니다.
